Where It All Began

Hi, I’m Andy Cairns, and I wasn’t always a cook. Growing up in Bathgate, Scotland, I survived on my parents' meals and takeaway, with my only "recipes" involving burnt frozen pizza and microwaved scrambled eggs.

Everything changed in Australia. My cousin and I took a year-long working holiday, filled with junk food and adventure—until I met Jai, a stranger-turned-friend who introduced me to real cooking. My first attempt? Unwashed, fried potato skins and half-frozen meat pies. Let’s just say it was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Then came Anya. We met through work, stayed in touch, and by 2012, she moved to Brisbane to be with me. Inspired by her love of food and Jai’s kitchen skills, I dove headfirst into cooking.

Now, I want to share my journey—the wins, the disasters, and everything in between. Cooking isn’t just about making food; it’s about creativity, connection, and fun. Whether you’re here to learn, experiment, or just laugh at my mistakes, welcome aboard. Let’s cook! 🚀🔥
